February Lessons
Kindergarten: Tattling: We read Tattle Tongue and went over examples of tattling vs. reporting, and when an adult is needed and when they can solve problems on their own.
1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade: How to Handle Teasing/Annoying Behavior
I read the book Simon’s Hook, which relates teasing and being annoying to throwing out hooks on a fishing pole. The book gives 5 tips on how to “not bite the hooks.” Each student was given the handout below as a reminder of the 5 tips, and we went over examples of hooks they may encounter and brainstormed ways to deal with them without biting. Each classroom also received a set of posters with each tip.
